Maya - Palace

Our last Maya task of the year was to copy a picture of a palace and turn it into 3D, doing this was incredibly fun and by far one of the most satisfying pieces of work to finish.

I first started with the base of the palace and worked on getting the size of the palace I wanted and then working out how I would scale the high in proportion with the size of my pillars. One of the most annoying parts of the modelling this was trying to get the correct design for the pattern around the outer ring of the palace. I wouldn't say I struggled with modelling the palace at all however if I did have to change something about my model it would be the way I modelled it, the majority of the shapes in the model came from one extrude onto another making it really annoying to texture. I did texture my palace however for some weird reason when I saved the texture I was unable to open the file again to print screen my result. I feel I might of saved it in the wrong file format however next time I will definitely make sure I provide a look at the model fully textured.
