Maya - Turret Design

Through out the Maya session we learnt how to model, texture and animate a turret. I really enjoyed learning about how to model in Maya as I was used to using a similar program by the same company called 3ds Max and I can I definitely prefer modelling in Maya over 3ds as well, with maya I found that the interface was so much more easier to model in compared to 3ds, the extruding of a poly is a lot easier along with the selection tools of switching between picking a face, edge of vortex as you don't have to re-find the option in Maya through the Menu's like you do in 3ds.

In this post I have put a few lessons into one to show the process from top to bottom of my modelling aspects of the turret, I also wanted to add my animation to my blog but I was unsure how I would be able to do it.

From this point on,
we were shown how we could model shapes onto a surface that wasn't flat which I found extremely helpful as I would always model an object an then later on combine whatever the shape was and then move and rotate it to where it needed to be. However after learning how to model like this it was really easy and a lot more enjoyable then trying to get the correct angle when rotating.
